What's the minimum size that a video could be in order to convert?
I want to know minimum height and width as well as minimum play time.

someone has been trying to hammer it into my head that a video clip should be 1.5 mb in size, 10-15 seconds.

That's not a good gallery, it wont get listed on many MGPs, at least the good ones.
A popular gallery these days has between 3 and 4 videos, 1 to 1.5 megs, at least 15-20 seconds each, with sound.

What about the height and width? Should it be 352x240, 320x240, 240x180 or what? Should it be the same height and width as the video inside the members' area?

i've been using 320x240. i dont think smaller sized thumbs worked for me. but if your movie displays a smaller size, it probably wouldnt make sense to use larger thumbs. but leo should answer this one

actual tgps pick up the galleries with the 6-10 movies. although i'm beginning to see a trend where some are now picking up galleris with 3-4 large movies

don't go less than 352x240.. compress it around 720 kbps I'd say but make sure clips don't look overly compressed.. for whatever reason not every clips will look the same at the same compression level so you should adjust it accordingly. Use mono for sound which should make the file size a bit smaller. For thumbs leading to movies, make them at least 200x150 if not larger but ofcourse whatever suits your gallery design.

Yeah yet large movie galleries on tgp site is very very hard to convert cos tgp surfers are mostly on dial-ups and can't download larger clips fast enough.

Surely is not a very smart move to submit mgp style galleries to tgps even if they accept them just fine however, with a few exceptions like where the tgp has totally separate movie section (not just a category page).

Is The Hun also an exeption to that? I see movie galleries on paid spots over there with 2-3 huge movies and theres no doubt those guys are converting good cuz they've been buying spots for many years. Oh, and Ken has a gallery there with 3 clips of 3.5Mb each today :winkwink:

i suppose so since a good majority of the tgps out there can't produce as much traffic as the hun

Wow Leo! How do you keep your file sizes down? I usually use 320x240, 30 fps, 550 kbps, mono. That usually keeps a 20 second clips to about 1.5 Mb.
